"In my mid thirties I found myself with some unexplained dental problems. I was beginning to have receding gums and some periodontal pocketing. I also had sore muscles on the right side of my face. I began to wear a bite splint at night which relieved the score muscles every morning, but I have always taken such good care of my teeth, I could not understand nor could anyone explain the reasons for the other problems.
My
father was a dentist and I have always
known how to care for my mouth properly
and the importance of healthy teeth.
I added more tools to my daily routine
of caring for my teeth and that did
little for the problem.
Through
Dr. Wilkin I learned about how the
joint and muscles have to function
together to maintain healthy teeth.
If this system is not functioning
properly, it can cause a person to
clench and grind their teeth which,
in turn, can cause different types
of breakdown. The trauma from my
clenching and grinding was actually
causing some bone around my teeth
to be destroyed, resulting in the
pocketing and recession.
I
have been treated with a full mouth
bite adjustment. I also had some
filling material added to a couple
of teeth that I had worn down and
weren't ’t functioning as they should. My bite feels much more stable and firm and the problems have stabilized. I am so relieved and grateful to Dr. Wilkin for his knowledge and care."
