Restorative Biologic Dentistry

Biologic dentistry recognizes the impact of toxic materials on dental and overall health. Biologic dentists are concerned about the integrity of the oral cavity and use materials and procedures in their practices that are systemically compatible.

We do not use Mercury fillings. Instead, we use composite or porcelain fillings (both of which are white). If a patient has significant allergies or other concerns, a simple Biocompatibility Test can be done to determine the best possible dental materials.

When removing Mercury fillings, we follow the IAOMT guidelines (International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology), which are as follows:

  • Use of high velocity vacuum with a device called a "cleanup."
  • High volume of water to cool and flush debris.
  • Removal of filling in as large a piece as possible.
  • Use of a high-powered electronic filter.
